Endometriosis is classified in Ayurveda under Vata-Kapha disorders of the Artava Vaha Srotas (reproductive channels), with Ama accumulation causing abnormal tissue growth. Ayurvedic treatment focuses on correcting retrograde flow (Apana Vata imbalance), dissolving the Ama deposits, reducing inflammation, and restoring normal menstrual physiology.
Endometriosis affects approximately 1 in 10 women of reproductive age and is a leading cause of chronic pelvic pain and infertility. Conventional treatment options — hormonal suppression or surgery — offer temporary relief with significant side effects. Ayurveda offers a systematic approach to correct the underlying Vata-Kapha imbalance, dissolve Ama, reduce endometrial implants, and manage pain without hormonal suppression.
Treatment is planned in two phases: Shodhana (elimination) to remove accumulated Ama and purify the Artava Vaha Srotas, followed by Shamana (pacification) with classical Vata-Kapha balancing herbs and Rasayana.
