Sutika Paricharya — the classical Ayurvedic postpartum protocol — is one of the most detailed and scientifically rich sections of Ayurvedic gynaecology. The 40-day post-delivery period is considered a critical window for the mother’s complete physical recovery, hormonal rebalancing, lactation establishment, and prevention of long-term health issues.
Delivery creates a massive Vata surge in the body — the downward movement (Apana Vata) during delivery must be systematically rebalanced in the postpartum period. Failure to do so, as described in classical texts, leads to long-term Vata disorders: joint pain, back problems, hormonal imbalance, postnatal depression, and weakness that can persist for years. Our Sutika Paricharya programme prevents these through systematic postpartum care.
The programme is structured in three phases: immediate post-delivery (Day 1–10), mid-postpartum (Day 11–25), and restoration (Day 26–40). Each phase has specific dietary guidelines, herbal formulations, Abhyanga (oil massage), Svedana, and lifestyle recommendations.
Our BAMS specialists will assess your prakriti and recommend the right protocol for you.
