Virechana — Therapeutic Purgation

Virechana is a controlled therapeutic purgation procedure that eliminates excess Pitta dosha and accumulated toxins from the liver, gallbladder, and small intestine. It is the gold standard Panchakarma therapy for Pitta-dominant disorders and the most powerful treatment for liver and blood purification in Ayurveda.

Virechana is preceded by a preparatory phase of internal oleation and herbal steam therapy to mobilise toxins from tissues into the digestive tract. On the day of the procedure, specific purgative medicines chosen based on the individual's constitution are administered. The number of purgations is carefully monitored by the physician to ensure safety and completeness.
